第七幕·十四

简不动声色地点了点头，又叹了一口气：“What good is it to mention it to him? All he does is beat and scold me. He said I was a vampire, spending his money and not being content.”

梁皖妮听了有点气愤，放下刀叉的声音把在场的其他人都吓到了。

“You've just been on stage a little bit, not completely out of show business. You have your own job. You're not a parasite.”

简仍是摇头：“I told you that I married him for his money. He earns more than me. You have to be humble when you're trapped in an inferior situation.”

停顿了一会，她又说：“You don't have to give me a script. I've made up my mind. I will quit acting the year after that. Being a housewife would save me a lot of trouble.”

“I thought you said you couldn't reconcile yourself?”

“What was I supposed to do? I don't know why you invited me to dinner this time. But there's something I want to tell you.”

梁皖妮和珍妮特都屏气凝神，等着她接下来会说什么。

“I've been jealous of you since unibersity. I hate how many times you upstaged me. So, I've been setting you up since graduation. Sometimes, I feel uneasy and can't even sleep. But, you know, it makes me happy to see you lose your gig. I want to be more famous and better paid than you.”

梁皖妮听来，并不感到惊讶。简曾经是她的闺蜜，突然跟她不对付肯定是事出有因。多年不见，梁皖妮也不想去追究。

简突然望向梁琍雅。梁琍雅吃得正欢，没有注意到她。

“For your daughter... I'm sorry...”
