“What?”梁皖妮怀疑自己听错了，“But I majored in acting at Oxford University.”1

“Those who graduate from acting are not necessarily actors.”加文告诉他，“I thought you were suitable for a role in a planned play. But something I heard not long ago changed my mind.”

“What have you heard?”1

“When you were in China, why did you have dinner with several Chinese actors?”1

“They invited me. I was the only ethnic Chinese.”梁皖妮不知道加文是从何得知的。

“So can you tell me what you talked about?”1

“We talked about drama and Peking opera.”梁皖妮如实回答。

加文紧紧地盯着她：“Is that all?”

梁皖妮仔细地回忆那次聚餐：“They want me to recommend some new actors to their troupe.”

加文在胸前抱着双臂，向后靠在椅背上：“Therefore, I don't trust you.”

“You're afraid that I'll join their troupe?”梁皖妮急了，“But I don't think Chinese troupes are developing very well now or the troupe can give me the opportunity I want.”

“Do you think I'll still believe you?”加文反问她。1

梁皖妮知道，自己怎么也解释不清了。1

前几年的相处，让梁皖妮觉得，加文是个固执的人，他不会轻易改变自己认定的。梁皖妮不太喜欢他的为人，不过是为了实现自己进老维克成为职业演员的梦想。

现在，进老维克的梦想是实现了。但恐怕，她无法在这里成为职业演员。1

冷静下来，她对加文说：“Let me reconsider it. I'll tell you my decision the day after tomorrow at the latest.”

加文暂时同意了。

梁皖妮黯然地走出加文的办公室。早已侯在门口的肯迎上来问：“Has the contract been signed?”

梁皖妮默不作声地摇了摇头。
