The vortex continued its violent thrashing. The black tower was breaking apart, its structure dissolving into chaotic data fragments.
And then, the vortex began to shrink, rapidly contracting. It pulled in the remaining alien entities, the fragments of the black tower, and seemingly, the entire energy field of the nexus.
As the vortex grew smaller, the cacophony of sound diminished, replaced by an intense vacuum of silence. The light faded, and the cavern plunged into almost complete darkness.
And then, with a final, silent pop, the vortex was gone. The cavern was empty.
I collapsed to the ground, exhausted, my body aching, my mind numb. The burning sensation on my chest and skin subsided, leaving behind a dull ache. The symbols were gone from my vision, the whispers silent.
The balance… was it restored? Or did I just destroy the entire nexus, the gateway between realms?
I lay there in the darkness for a long time, unable to move. Eventually, I heard footsteps and voices. Flashlights appeared in the distance.
