Fear gripped me, paralyzing me. Was this the climax? Was I about to be pulled into the black tower, into the digital abyss?
But then, I remembered神棍’s words: “When reality is twisted, don’t trust your eyes. Trust your most primal fear.” And also, my own hypothesis: this is not just magic, it’s data, it’s code.
If it's code, it can be understood. It can be manipulated.
Despite the overwhelming fear, a surge of defiance rose within me. I refused to be just a “迷途之人” consumed by this digital entity. I am a computer science student, I understand systems, protocols, logic. This… this is just a system, albeit extremely advanced or alien, that is malfunctioning, or perhaps, operating as intended, but according to rules we don’t understand.
I forced myself to calm down. Staring at the flickering black tower on the wall, I looked at the chaotic symbols on my laptop screen. Instead of seeing gibberish, I tried to see patterns, recognize structures, like debugging a corrupted program.
The symbols were flowing, changing, reacting to my actions with the laptop. They were like a malicious network, trying to attack and shut down my systems, both physical and digital.
