Chapter 4:Secrets of the Ancient Tomb
After passing through the stone door, the four of them stepped into the core area of Qingyun Tomb.It was a massive underground chamber, with walls adorned with ancient patterns and inscriptions that exuded an air of mystery and solemnity. The large stone coffin lay quietly in the center,as if hiding countless secrets.
Lin Yi unfolded the tattered parchment map and examined it carefully. The map was marked with an ancient script indicating a new location, seemingly deep within a more distant mountain range.
"Where does this map point to next?"Lin Yi asked, his finger tracing the markings on the map.
Su Yao leaned in,her eyes scanning the map for more clues."The place we're headed next seems even more dangerous than here,"she said, her voice tinged with a hint of worry.
Lao Dao nodded, his voice steady with determination."No matter what,we've come this far. There's no turning back now."
A Qiang also peered at the map, curiosity evident in his expression."How far is this place we're going?"
Lin Yi looked up at the group."Let's see what else is inside this coffin,"he suggested, carefully opening the stone coffin fully.Apart from the parchment map,the coffin seemed to hold nothing else. However,as they were examining the coffin,Su Yao suddenly noticed a hidden mechanism.
"Watch out, there's a mechanism here!"Su Yao warned loudly. She quickly used a tool in her hand to trigger a concealed button. There was a"click,"and the bottom of the coffin slowly opened, revealing a hidden compartment.
A Qiang leaned in,shining his flashlight into the compartment."What's inside here?"he asked. They saw an ancient jade pendant inside, inscribed with symbols similar to those on the map.
Lin Yi picked up the pendant, examining the symbols closely."This jade pendant might be the key to opening the next tomb,"he said.
Su Yao nodded in agreement."We need to be careful. These symbols might be an ancient code."
Lao Dao suggested,"Let's leave this place first and find a safe spot to study this pendant."They knew that more dangers likely awaited them within Qingyun Tomb.
So,the four of them, carrying the jade pendant and the map, carefully made their way out of the underground chamber. They retraced their steps along the passage, staying alert for any traps or dangers.By the time they emerged from the cave, dusk had begun to settle.
"We'll rest here tonight and continue our journey tomorrow,"Lin Yi said,as they found a relatively safe spot to set up camp.A Qiang took out some dried food and water, distributing them among the group.
Lao Dao gazed at the distant mountains,a hint of concern in his eyes."The road ahead will likely be even more challenging."
Su Yao spoke firmly, her eyes filled with a desire to uncover the unknown."But we've come this far.We can't give up now."
Lin Yi nodded, knowing that they had embarked on a path with no return. To uncover the family secrets and explore the truths hidden within the tombs, they had to keep pushing forward.
