顾初凝How I Learned to Learn English Last year, I did not like my English class. Every class was like a bad dream. Theteacherspoke tooquickly. But I was afraidto askquestions because mypronunciationwas very bad. So I justhidbehind my textbook and never saidanything. Then one day I watched an English moviecalled Toy Story. I fellin love with thisexciting andfunnymovie! So then Ibeganto watch other English movies too. Although I could not（couldn't）understand everything the characters said, their body language and theexpressions on their faces helped me to get themeaning. I also realized I could get it bylisteningfor just the key words.Mypronunciation alsoimprovedby listeningto the interesting conversations in English movies. I discovered that listening to somethinginterestingis the secret to language learning. I also learnedusefulsentences like “It’s a piece of cake” or “It serves you right.” I didn’tunderstand these sentences at first. But because I wantedto understand the story, I looked up the words in a dictionary. Now Ireallyenjoy my English class. I want to learn new words andmore grammar. Then I can have abetter understanding of English movies.
